Snatra/Ashta Prakari Puja

Date 03-10-2008.

Snatra Puja.
You should do the following things to prepare for any type of Puja ceremony:

II. Bathe or shower prior to performing Puja
III. Wear clean (recently washed) clothing and do not eat anything or go to the bathroom after putting
on those clothes
IV. Cover your mouth with a handkerchief

The purpose of performing Snatra Puja is to perceive and praise the virtues and attributes of the supreme beings Jineshwar (24 Tirthankars), and thereby remembering to always conduct ones own daily life with the same supreme virtues and attributes.

Stages in Snatra Puja:
V. Remembering and respectfully worshipping the virtues, attributes and characteristics that allowed the
24 Tirthankars to attain salvation.
VI. Celebration of the birth and re-enactment of the Tirthankar’s first bathing ceremony.
VII. Astha Prakari Puja: Worship with eight symbolic entities.
VIII. Aarti and Mangal Divo.
IX. Shanti-Kalash Ceremonial Process.
X. Bhav Puja: Chaityavandan.

Nine Points of Chandan Puja on idol of Tirthankar (Nav Ang Puja):
1. Right toe, then left toe
2. Right knee, then left knee
3. Right center of forearm, then left center of forearm
4. Right shoulder, then left shoulder
5. Top of head (at center)
6. Center of forehead
7. Center of throat
8. Center of chest

Meaning of Ashta Prakari Puja:
Generally Jains use the following eight items to perform Astha Prakari Puja of a Tirthankar. Each item represents a specific religious virtue. While conducting the puja, one is reminded of the importance of conducting his/her own daily life with the same supreme virtues.

1. Jala Puja: (Water)
Water symbolizes the ocean. Every living being continuously travels through life’s ocean birth, death, and misery. This puja reminds that one should live their life with honesty, truthfulness, love and compassion towards all living beings. This way one will be able to cross life’s ocean and attain Moksha or liberation.

2. Chandan Puja: (Sandal wood)
Chandan symbolizes knowledge (Jnan). By performing this puja, one should strive for Right Knowledge. Jainism preaches that the Path of Knowledge is the main path to attain liberation. Bhakti or Devotion helps in the early stages of one's effort for liberation.

3. Pushpa Puja: (Flower)
A flower symbolizes conduct. Our conduct should be like a flower, which provides fragrance and beauty to all living beings without discrimination. We should live our life like a flower, with love and compassion towards all living beings.

4. Dhoop Puja: (Incense)
Dhoop symbolizes the ascetic life. While burning itself, incense provides fragrance to others. Similarly, true monks and nuns spend their entire life selflessly for the benefit of all living beings. This puja reminds that one should strive for an ascetic lifestyle that ultimately leads to liberation.

5. Deepak Puja: (Candle)
The flame of deepak represents Pure Consciousness or a soul without any bondage (liberated soul). In Jainism, such a soul is called a Siddha or God. The ultimate goal of every living being is to become liberated from karma. By doing this puja one should strive to follow the Five Great Vows: Non violence, Truthfulness, Non stealing, Chastity and Non possession. Ultimately, these vows coupled with Right Faith and Knowledge will lead to liberation.

6. Akshat Puja: (Rice)
Since rice is a non-fertile grain, it cannot be grown by seeding it. Symbolically, it means that rice is the last birth. By doing this puja, one should strive to put all their efforts in life as if this is their last life. And after the end of this life, one will be liberated and will not be reborn again.

7. Naivedya Puja: (Sweet)
Naivedya symbolizes a tasty food. By doing this puja, one should strive to reduce or eliminate attachment to tasty food. Healthy food is essential for survival, however one should not live to eat tasty food. The ultimate aim in one's life is to attain a life where no food is essential for our existence. That is the life of a liberated soul who lives in Moksha forever in ultimate bliss.

8. Fal Puja: (Fruit)
Fruit symbolizes Moksha or Liberation. If we live our life without any attachment to worldly affair, continue to perform our duty without any expectation and reward, be a witness to all the incidents that occur surrounding us and within us, truly follow ascetic life, and have a love and compassion to all living beings, we will attain the fruit of Moksha or liberation. This is the last puja performed and symbolizes the ultimate achievement of our life.

.विल इंश्योरेंस कवर आईटी?

Date 30-9-2008

The only way to know is to ask. Find out whether your insurance company ever covers weight-loss surgery, and, if so, what restrictions and requirements it has. Some tips:

Get the name and position of the insurance representative you are talking to.

Whenever possible, get information in writing.

Don’t think your primary doctor or surgeon can “get around” an insurance policy that doesn’t cover weight-loss surgery, or that if your plan covers surgery it will cover this particular surgery. Neither belief is likely to be true.

If your insurance doesn’t cover weight-loss surgery, ask your company if they might change insurers in the future. You may also want to look at other insurance options during the next open enrollment period.

If there’s really no chance for insurance coverage, consider paying for the surgery yourself. Financing options are usually available. After all, which is more important: a new car or a new life? If you go this route, find out whether your insurance would cover complications that might arise from the surgery, such as a blood clot or pneumonia. While the surgery might be affordable in your budget, complications may not be.

Jump Start Your Saving

Date 29-9-2008.

Jump Start Your Saving You may already know that Baby Step 1 in Financial Peace University is saving $1,000 for a starter emergency fund. It might seem daunting to save up that much money, but you can do it! Even if you've never held $1,000 cash in your hands before, there are plenty of ways to quickly earn the money. Then you can stash it away in the bank for a rainy day. Here are several ways you can start saving for your emergency fund:

1. Get a second job. Sure, no one wants to leave their 9-5 day job only to head to a night shift somewhere else, but just keep in mind that it's temporary. Remember, you have to live like no one else now so you can live like no one else later. If you're a stay-at-home mom, consider babysitting someone else's kids to bring in some extra cash each month. Many parents would rather have a friend watch their child instead of shuffling them to daycare.

2. Sell some stuff. You're bound to have extra stuff around your home just collecting dust. If you don't need it, sell it! Like Dave says, "Sell so much stuff that your kids think they're next!" Do you really need five TVs? What about all the clothes in your closet? Throw all your unnecessary stuff in a pile and have a garage sale this weekend!

3. Stop eating out so much. If you are a typical American, you eat in a restaurant more than you eat in your dining room! Making your own meals and staying away from your favorite eatery could save you hundreds of dollars each year. Also, brown bag your lunch during the week-even Dave does that! You'll see the money start to add up pretty quickly!

4. Carpool to work and activities. With gas prices going up, sharing the commute to work each day with a co-worker is a smart way to save. Whether you drive or ride, this will save you money in the long run.

5. Kick the habit. Whether it's smoking, lattes or shoes, kick your indulgence to the curb. A $4 beverage from Starbucks every morning before work may not seem like a lot, but if you take that $4 and save it for just a month, you'll have about $85! That should be incentive enough to stop splurging until you can actually afford it.

6. Ditch the cable. Ok, maybe you aren't that extreme, but you could get rid of the premium cable channels. They don't just waste your money; they waste your time! Besides, does anyone really watch all 573 channels?

7. Buy used things. Yes, this will push some beyond their comfort zone. However, considering the markups most retail stores charge on new items, buying "slightly experienced" goods makes a lot of sense. Visit resale shops. Surf over to eBay. Check out the classifieds. You may not enjoy digging around in someone else's stuff, but garage sales are a sure way to save some cash.

8. Get a piggy bank. Whenever you have spare change, stash it away in your piggy bank. Over time, the change will build up and make a significant impact on your emergency fund.

9. Use your energy. What do you really enjoy doing? In what area are you especially talented? Now take those talents and find a few ways to make money with them. For example, if you're an excellent cleaner, clean a few houses in your neighborhood to earn some extra cash. Maybe you love dogs. Why not walk your busy neighbor's dog for a few bucks? Are you good at building things? Offer your services for side construction jobs. The possibilities are endless!

Now that you have some great ideas for quickly building up your emergency fund, it's time to get busy! No more excuses! There's not a lot you can do about the national economy but there is a lot you can do about your personal economy. Zig Ziglar

3 Quick Ways to Improve Search Engine Ranking

date 27-9-2008.

There is no doubt that being at the top of the search engines for your targeted keyword phrase is going to send you some of the best traffic that you will ever get to your website. Although there are dozens of different ways to pull this traffic in, search engine optimization is one that you should never overlook. Unfortunately, many of us get caught up in the details and feel as if we are simply not qualified enough to improve search engine ranking as far as our websites are concerned. The simple fact of the matter is, improving our rankings is not that difficult to do. Here are three quick ways to improve search engine rankings and to get some of the best traffic that you will ever receive.

Go for the backlink - The incoming link is one of the most beneficial things that you will ever have as far as your search engine ranking is concerned. Although on page factors certainly can help you in a lot of different ways, making sure that you have plenty of incoming links and that they are from qualified sources is going to do a lot in pushing you up through the search engine rankings. There are plenty of different ways to get the link but one of the most effective is by offering to write free content for webmasters in exchange for a link back to your website. Because most webmasters understand the benefits of uniquecontent, you would be surprised with the number of them that will agree to this arrangement. Also remember to have the backlink named after an anchor text related to your keywords.

Don't Forget on Page Factors - Although this is really considered by many to be a no-brainer, you want to make sure that you are not forgetting your on page factors for your keywords as well. Stuffing the key word too many times into a webpage is not only going to make it read poorly, the search engines may actually rank it lower as a result. It is often only necessary for you to use the word or phrase naturally within the webpage in order for it to rank well if all of the other search engine optimization factors are in place. Use it in the title tag, toward the top of the page and throughout the page naturally and you should be just fine.

Add New Content - One of the things that you're going to hear a lot about if you're hanging out where other Internet marketers are talking is that new content is going to give you a great boost. This is really true and new content can often help your old content to rank better, simply because it is getting spidered more often and internal linking structures can be built to help it in one way or another. This is just another way to improve search engine ranking and to make sure that your website is listed toward the top of the results pages so that you can get some free traffic your way.

Best Tips for Laptop battery Maintenance

date 25-8-2008.

If you find yourself with no electrical adapter or power source and need your battery to operate for as long as possible, here are a few tips you can try when your notebook computer is in battery mode:

• Use the notebook’s power management system - In Microsoft Windows the “Power Options” power management application can be found inside the Control Panel. In the Power Options Properties tab select the “Portable/Laptop” power scheme. Many notebook manufactories also provide their own custom power management applications, which help to optimize power usage and extend battery time.

• Turn down the display brightness - You can lower the LCD brightness level to use less energy. In fact a lower brightness level also strains the eyes less and causes less fatigue.

• Close any unused applications - Applications are a burden on the system and require energy to run. Closing any unused applications will reduce that burden and any energy consumption down the line.

• Remove any unused PC Cards or USB devices from your notebook - These devices require energy even when they sit idle, so removing them can help to extend your notebook’s battery time.

• Disable Wireless LAN or Bluetooth network adapter when not in use - Ditto for the Wireless LAN or Bluetooth network adapters.

• Increase system memory - Your computer stores data for use by the CPU in system memory or as virtual memory in the hard drive. Increasing system memory helps to reduce the system’s reliance on the hard drive, which uses more energy than system memory.

• Reduce unnecessary optical drive operation/activity - Avoid activities that require your optical drive to operate constantly, such as listening to CDs.

• Avoid graphics intensive applications - The notebook system will run in a high performance settings when using these applications, causing the battery to run down at a very quick rate.

Laptop Battery Maintenance Tips

Almost all notebooks today utilize rechargeable Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries. Lithium Ion provides many benefits over earlier Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) or Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) Batteries, including less mass, better performance, and insusceptibility to the so-called "memory effect". Despite these benefits you can maximize your battery’s lifespan by following these maintenance tips:

• New batteries must be fully charged before use - To put your battery in optimum condition for long-term usage, please fully charge the battery before its first use. Very importantly as well, for the first 3 charge cycles, always fully charge before use and fully discharge before recharging.

• Calibrate the battery every few months - Almost all notebook batteries are created with an internal microprocessor, which provides an estimate of battery conditions such as number of charges, discharges, full charge capacity and cycle charge count. The full charge capacity will become a little inaccurate after a few months and calibrating it can help restore the battery’s performance.

• Some notebooks provide calibration tools in the BIOS or a Windows application. If your notebook provides either of them, you can use them.
